Terms of Use: Reservation of Study Desks and Rooms

The German version of this document is the only legally binding version. This English translation is provided for convenience only.

These terms of use apply to study desks and rooms in branch libraries for which the TUM University Library provides reservation options.

  1. The provision of reservable study desks and rooms is a voluntary service offered by the University Library. Usage is free of charge, and there is no entitlement to the provision of a study desk or room.
  2. Study desks and rooms can only be reserved by a limited group of people and for a specified duration within the time periods set by the University Library. The usage conditions are detailed on the University Library's website on study spaces.
  3. Study desks and rooms may only be used during the University Library's opening hours.
  4. Reservations are non-transferable or cannot be made on behalf of third parties.
  5. Reservations must be made through the booking tool provided by the company "anny".
  6. Bookings must be confirmed at on-site check-in stations when the reservation is taken up.
  7. The reservation will be void if check-in is not completed within the defined time window.
  8. When temporarily leaving the study desk or room, a clock disc to indicate the break time must be used. This does not apply to study carrels and the presentation lab. However, using a clock disc is recommended for shorter absences in study carrels.
  9. Ongoing reservations will expire if an absence exceeds 60 minutes or if no break disc is used. This does not apply to study carrels and the presentation lab.
  10. Study carrels may be used by others during the reserving person’s absence.
  11. The University Library may unilaterally adjust reservations for good cause (e.g. urgent building measures) or in cases of non-compliance with terms of use. Reserving parties will be duly informed accordingly.
  12. The University Library recommends that valuables not be left unattended on study desks or in rooms during breaks. The University Library assumes no liability for the loss or damage to personal belongings.
  13. Any damage to study desks or rooms must be reported immediately to the University Library by completing the damage report form available at the circulation desk. Users are responsible for compensating for any damage to study desks or rooms, as determined at the University Library's reasonable discretion, along with an administration fee.
  14. Furnishings must not be removed from rooms.
  15. The University Library is only liable for the consequences of the use of study desks and rooms if they are caused intentionally or by gross negligence on the part of the University Library. In cases of gross negligence, the University Library's liability is limited to foreseeable damages typical for use and excludes indirect or consequential damages. The foregoing limitations of liability do not apply in cases of injury to life, limb, or health.
  16. The House Rules of the University Library apply to all study spaces and rooms.
