Discover & Planning
Literature Research
The University Library offers a collection of more than 2.3 million printed and digital resources, including 2,700 databases, 150,000 e-journals, 290,000 e-books, and 100,000 textbooks.
Online Catalog TUM OPAC
Our online catalog TUM OPAC brings all resources together in one place. You can request, borrow, or access online not only TUM holdings but also millions of items from other academic libraries.
- Your TUM PersonalCard serves as your library card. If you are enrolled at TUM, you are automatically authorized to use the library.
- You can log in to your library account using your TUM ID and request, borrow or access media online via the TUM OPAC.
- Materials that are not available at TUM can be ordered via interlibrary loan.
Access to E‑Media
Most electronic resources are restricted by paywalls. Using your TUM ID and the services eAccess or Shibboleth, active TUM members can bypass these restrictions and access e-media free of charge, 24/7 – whether on campus, at home, or on the go.
Systematic Review
We support you in conducting a systematic review by helping you systematically identify, critically appraise, and synthesize relevant literature for your research question. Benefit from our comprehensive access to scholarly information resources and from practical, hands-on guidance provided by our expert librarians.
Data Strategy
The TUM University Library is a co-founder of the TUM Research Data Hub. Together with the Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI), we promote sustainable research data management at TUM through a wide range of support services. Our Data Stewards provide practical, hands-on guidance—supporting you, for example, in preparing data management plans and in further steps of research proposal planning.
Collect & Manage
Reference Management
Keep track of your literature and organize your collected references using reference management software. In combination with word processing programs, you can generate reference lists, in-text citations, and bibliographies, and seamlessly integrate them into your publications. We offer courses and consultation sessions with support for Citavi, EndNote, and Zotero.
Citation
Citing correctly – no problem! In addition to the standard reference, the TUM Citation Guide, we offer courses and consultation sessions for further support.
Research Data Management
We are co-founders of the TUM Research Data Hub – the central point of contact for all questions related to research data management (RDM) at TUM. We offer a broad range of support services to help you implement FAIR and DFG‑compliant research data management throughout your research projects.
Data Stewards for Your Research Project
Request a Data Steward – In addition to their TUM‑wide supporter role, our Data Stewards can be requested as designated research data managers for large‑scale research projects with TUM participation. They help your project with expertise in research data management throughout the project lifecycle.
