The branch libraries are popular learning locations at the various TUM campuses. We provide study spaces and rooms for every learning situation:
- Individual learning
- Group work
- Quiet study
- Active participation in webinars
TUM students can reserve spaces and rooms. External guests may use freely available learning spaces.
Courses & Learning Formats
Courses
Whether you are just starting your studies at TUM, preparing your final thesis, or have been publishing academically for some time, the University Library supports you with a wide range of courses covering academic key skills:
- Searching Literature, e.g., books, journals, subject databases
- Managing Data & References, e.g., research data management or reference management with Zotero, EndNote, and Citavi
- Citing, including basics and special cases
- Publishing, e.g., open access, predatory journals
- Teaching & Training, e.g., Copyright in teaching
We offer courses throughout the semester in German and English. They take place as webinars, on-campus courses, or Moodle courses.
E-Learning
Some topics from our courses, including literature research, reference management, and citing, can be completed as e-learning material by TUM members, regardless of time and location:
- Tutorials and Shorts on YouTube
- Moodle courses with e‑test and confirmation of participation
- Lecture notes and exercise worksheets on mediaTUM
Moodle Course Modules for Teaching
We also provide our Moodle course modules for use in teaching. TUM lecturers can import the modules into their own Moodle courses. The acquired knowledge is assessed via an e‑test at the end, and a confirmation of participation can be automatically generated upon successful completion.
Tailored Training
Our modular course concept is tailored to your lectures or the professional development of your team.

Library Tours
Join us for a library tour! In just 30 minutes, our guides provide information on University Library services, including access to literature and study spaces.
Study‑Supporting Learning Materials
Textbook Collections
At all TUM locations, library users can access textbook collections in selected branch libraries. Key study literature is available in large numbers on the shelves.
Course Reserves
TUM lecturers can create course reserves for their students and make them available either digitally in Moodle or physically in a branch library.
