Doctoral Theses at TUM
Doctoral theses submitted to the Technical University of Munich must be made accessible in accordance with TUM’s Regulations for the Award of Doctoral Degrees by reproduction and distribution, either electronically or in printed form with an ISBN. Printed doctoral theses are archived by the University Library, and doctoral theses published electronically are made available in full text on our publication server mediaTUM.
All academic theses of TUM can be searched, borrowed, or read online via eAccess in the online catalog TUM OPAC. In your search, you can filter the result list in TUM OPAC by the format “Thesis/Dissertation” and will receive only this type of media.
Doctoral Theses from Other Universities
Academic theses from other universities can also be searched for, ordered, or read online via eAccess through the online catalog TUM OPAC. In your search, you can filter the result list in TUM OPAC by the format “Thesis/Dissertation” and will receive only this type of media.
In addition, the dissonline service offers full-text search for online doctoral theses in German from other countries in the German National Library catalog
Publishing Doctoral Theses & Habilitation Theses
Doctoral or habilitation theses must be published at TUM, either electronically or in print, with an ISBN. To do so, either use our online workflow on the publication server mediaTUM or realize your book project with our TUM University Press (TUM.UP).

Find & Use Final Theses
Final theses, such as diplomas, bachelor’s, or master’s theses, can be published electronically on mediaTUM, the TUM publication server. The electronic publications can be searched for, ordered, or viewed in the online catalog TUM OPAC. In your search, you can filter the result list in OPAC by the format “Thesis/Dissertation” and will receive only this type of media.
