Researching & Publishing
Research Data Management
As a co-founder of the TUM Research Data Hub, together with the Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) we are the central point of contact for applied and sustainable research data management at TUM. We support you from the application for third-party funding through to data publication and archiving. Make use of our consulting and course offerings as well as our tools, such as TUM DataTagger and TUM eLabFTW.

Open Access
The TUM Open Access Policy recommends that all researchers publish their research results in the spirit of the open access movement. Benefit from publishing your papers through numerous open access agreements with major publishers as well as from the open access publication fund.
Visibility & Research Impact
Visibility and research impact are central topics in science. High visibility increases the likelihood that research will be perceived, used, and cited – and thus realize its impact.
- You receive guidance and valuable tips on measures to increase your visibility and thus activate an important lever for research impact: academic identity management, including the use of the TUM affiliation.
- Research impact is assessed by, e.g., publishers, universities, and funding organizations based on publication indicators. We explain the functioning, advantages, and limitations of these bibliometric metrics.
TUM is committed to the responsible use of bibliometric metrics in line with the DORA principles.

TUMFIS
The research information system TUMFIS is the central instrument for presenting research activities at TUM. It supports researchers in making their work visible and in recording relevant scholarly data – such as publications and research projects. As support for the use of TUMFIS, the University Library provides, among other resources, a help wiki.
Finding, Managing & Citing Information
Systematic Review
A systematic review captures and analyzes the current state of research on a question to provide a reliable basis for evidence-based decision-making. We support you in systematic literature searching through individual consultation and practical tips on methodological approaches.
Reference Management & Citing
Transparency and traceability are criteria of good scientific practice. We support you in complying with these principles through information, courses, and consultation on structured, digitally supported reference management as well as on essential, correct citing.
