Online Access
E-Media Collection
Use our electronic media on campus, while working from home, or on the go:
Most of our e-media are available to active TUM members via remote access. Depending on the e-resource provider, different authentication mechanisms are required to bypass the paywall.
Authentication Mechanisms
Access for active TUM Members
eAccess
eAccess provides access to a wide range of licensed e-media at TUM. Via the web-based authentication portal, active TUM members can easily log in with their TUM ID and access restricted content.
Institutional Login (Shibboleth)
Log in once via Shibboleth using your home institution and then access licensed content from various providers regardless of your location. Convenient access to e-media via single sign-on.
TUM LAN (Proxy)
Another option for accessing licensed e-media is via TUM LAN. This requires proxy configuration in your browser. Your affiliation with TUM is verified based on your IP address, allowing you to use the provider’s content. This authentication mechanism works only on computers connected to the wired network (LAN), not via Wi‑Fi.
Access for External Users and TUM Alumni
Due to licensing restrictions, you cannot use eAccess, Shibboleth, or TUM LAN. However, you can access our licensed e-media collections at research PCs in our branch libraries.
Linking Service SFX
All authentication options listed above may be encountered when accessing our licensed electronic resources via the SFX link resolver. SFX connects your search results from databases and search portals with our media holdings. After TUM authentication, you can access full texts or alternative delivery options.
